We just booked at Mountain Laurel feb 18th-25th using a 2bed bonus certificate. We own at Willowbrook but believe it or not we have never been there. We thought this would be a good opportunity to stay there even if its the sister resort. The snow lately has been so so. What type of entertainment is there President’s week if we can’t ski?
PS we are only going to stay the weekdays.

Dear Mr. Arnett,
I am looking to bring my daughter’s God Parents and their families to split rock to celebrate my daughters 11th birthday. This will consist of three different families. So you have any discounts. Being a Single mother on a fix income its difficult to get a few thousand dollars for a 3 day weekend. I called for Feb 17 until the 19th. That is leaving on the 19th,

I am hoping to make reservations for a surprise out for my daughter’s 9th birthday. I am coming with a group of 12- 14 people- 7 adults & 5 kids. I am trying to find a room arrangement that could have the group together or beside one another. I’ve read about the outdated rather ‘dingy’ rooms and would like to know if there any accommodations there that are somewhat nicer?
Any help you could offer me would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hey Sam, My family is coming to Split Rock on January 26th for two nights. I’ve heard some things about the resort and am starting to get a little nervous. I figured I go right to the dource. THe biggest complaints I’ve heard have been regarding the accomodation and the food. I believe I am staying in a 2 bedroom suite, but people are saying that there is nothing “SUITE” about it. THat the resort is stuck in teh 1970′s and that 2 nights is too long. We are really looking forward to our stay and to bowling and playing the waterpark. I would very much enjoy a clean, comfortable room wit ha great view and some delicious food. Please help ease my woes. Please let me know what me and my family of 4 can expect?

Hi- I would like to stay at the base of the mountain-easy access to the slopes- maybe with a fireplace and/or oversized bathtub. Can you recommend a place for a ski weekend in Jan or Feb? We have 2 adults and 2, possibly 3 children. Thank you.

Hello Sam,
We are coming down to Split rock this weekend 1/15-22. I was wondering if the resort offers discount ticket for jack =frost/big boulder? I was wondering if you are doing the dog sledding as you did last year. I sure that will depend on the weather if you have it. Please let me know. We are looking forward to a nice week. Oh….did the bowling alley open yet?

I was unable to get ski passes from the office for Friday skiing. We called weeks in advance, got your discounted ticket information, decided to purchase from you instead of our township that also had discounted tickets, and was very disappointed that tickets were not available when I arrived. I had to pay full price at the mountain. What can you do for me?

Thank you, Sam. I bet you will have a higher return rate of guests in the winter time if they can enjoy their days in the Galleria much more, with lockers to hold all of their coats, boots, mittens, etc. while they freely play and/or swim indoors in the Galleria. Also, please make the lockers FULL LENGTH in size (the lockers at the water park are teeny tiny) – remember, you have families with several winter coats, bags, etc. that will not fit in a small locker. PLEASE present the locker idea to your upper management! Thank you – Wendy

Just booked my (13yr old) son’s birthday party for 2/3/12-3rd year in a row. I think you should offer a better deal for parties-twilight rate with tax (no party) is 22.20, party rate is $29 and all I get for that is 2 pizza slices and 1 soda pp. For 6.80 pp more I would be happier with 3-4 slices and 2-3 sodas, these are 13 year olds, they could prob eat a whole pie each. You should be offering the food at a lower rate than I would pay at one of your restaurants, not a higher rate. And outside food is not allowed. Yes we get a designated area, but honestly, there has not previously been more than 10 other people there when we were. Otherwise, this makes for a great party, the kids love the break from the cold in the winter months, so we keep coming back.

Hello – I’m visiting the week of 1/7 with my husband and 2 year old twins. Looking forward to the water park and theater. I was wondering if you might know of any carriage or sleigh rides available in the area? Thanks!

I enjoy to your resort. My last visit I was wondering why the admin. has nt made upgrades to the doors. The main resort should have slipping glass doors near the theater and the main entrance. You also need better doors when you enter the main ballroom from the theater side. Loading and unloading is a big inconvience which makes me want to look into going to other resorts.

Hello Sam- We just returned from Split Rock’s Willow Creek lodging. I have a suggestion for you I really hope you take strongly. As you probably know, for guests not staying in the main building shared with the Galleria activities, guests must drive over there or take the shuttle. In the winter time, we are spending 6+ hours there trying to enjoy the facility, however, we have to carry around our winter coats, mittens, etc. from activity to activity. You will see families lugging around diaper bags, etc. as well. Everywhere you go, you’ll see winter coats piled at the bowling alley (takes up space for seating), thrown on the floor of the tennis courts (no place to put them), tied around people’s waists in the arcade, etc.. It almost makes you feel like a second class citizen and not so welcome, yet you pay full price as a time share owner to stay at Split Rock. Is there ANY chance you can take some of the extremely ample space at the Galleria and create lockers for your off-site guests? It would not only enable them to enjoy their visit to the Galleria facility, but they’d probably now stay longer (more $ for you!), and it will look a lot nicer than the dumpier appearance it currently has with winter jackets strewn everywhere, to inlude at the pool itself. Please reply. Thank you so much for your consideration!!

I am very happy you enjoyed your time with us. We ask all of our time share guests to leave the unit kitchen as they found it so far as china, glass, flatware and utensils are concerned. This is a common practice at many time share resorts in an effort to keep maintenance fees as low as possible. I am sorry you were offended as that was not the intent.

I’ve recently stayed at the Willowbrook suits with my family who were here visiting from Brazil. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but I must confess I’m a little disappointed with your “clean up you kitchen policy” since it defeats yhe idea of us being YOUR GUEST. Since when you ask that your guests clean up after themselves, or worse charge $20 If they refuse yo to so…this is not being hospitable and I’m paying a fee to stay at a resort because I didn’t want to have to clean up…this was extremely disappointing and quite frankly rude!

My family and I love Split Rock. You have a great staff and location. We are a little disappointed with the the appearance of the Galleria. The halls are dark and the carpet has a mildew smell throughout the building. We would like to see the fireplace going in the pit lounge. The front doors need to be automatic sliding ones to enter more easily. Also the elevator is a sorry site. The room floors need directional signs to the elevator and perhaps a larger or more than one elevator. The inside of the elevator is unsightly as well.
We do love coming here and look forward to the updates.

Please forward your confirmation number to sam.arnett@splitrockresort.com and I will personally go through your unit to make sure it will suit your needs. The heating units are through the wall like a hotel room but do not make enough noise to keep you awake. We use hot water extraction to clean carpets and not harsh chemicals. Your room will be clean and warm.

What a great idea to have this blog! Our family is coming for the first time (all 11 of us) and includes 3 families for a total of 6 adults, a 9 year old, a 6 year old, a 2 and a 1 year old and a newborn (3weeks old.) We have been able to get most of our questions answered for our trip from 12/22 until 12/27/11.
We are all staying in the slope side queen with kitchenette and sofa bed. I am concerned about the heating units in these rooms.
It is difficult to sleep with noisy wall units that are blowing out lots of dry hot air. Also with our newborn we just want to make sure the rooms are warm enough and so clean. I am not sure if
these are legitimate concerns, but that is what worries me for today. Also are there rugs in the rooms and do they have a harsh smell from the cleaning agent used. These are issues that I have read from past visitors and I just wanted to see if they still existed..Thanks a bunch

Good morning – I just made reservations through Expedia for 12/27 – 12/29 (my bday is 12/27).
My wife and I were last there for New Years back in 2000.
This time we’re bringing our kids with us…
What activities will be available at that time for us and them (aged 4, 12, 14). We are excited about the new waterpark, but what else can we do fairly inexpensively. Any thoughts or any fun ideas for my bday (43).
Thanks

Hi Sam,
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. We are going to be nearby “The Rock” during the New Years Eve weekend and we were thinkinking about driving over with a few friends for the Eve party. Do you have the prices for the dinner and party and the just party specials? I picked up the brochure before we left but I misplaced it and your New Years web page doesn’t mention those options. Thanks Sam.

Your resort is great. My wife and I had a good time there. This was our first year on our timeshare. We did have a couple of comments. The Jacuzzi tub in room 4115D would only blow out cold water thru the jets so you could not stay in there long. besides that the room was great. We got a pizza at galleria pizzeria it was a large 16 inch pizza. For the amount you pay with toppings it should be a good pizza. The pizza had 2 – 3 inches of crust and was burnt on the bottom. But over all it was a great vacation. We was there from 18 November thru 25 November. We live about 1 hour away and my wife is planning to do a girls night out with the neighbors at your resort for a weekend next year.

Thanks again

I was there this summer and was not pleased with the service. The front desk clerk was not that friendly and charged me with water park fee that we did not booked. She told me that hotel.com did not pay the room reservation in full so she needs to charge me on my credit card. I insisted that I already paid the reservation in full. After the stay, I saw in my bill that I was charged extra $120+ and so I called the credit card to dispute and now they are telling me that I used the water park which we love to go to but just cannot afford to add to the cost of vacation. I am very disappointed, I was deceived. I sent friends to go the resort and do the time share meeting but I never expected that I will be a victim of this. I felt like I was scammed.

Hi, Mr. Arnett. My husband, 2 small children (ages 2 and 1), and myself (38 weeks pregnant) have reserved a suite in the Galleria for this Friday (the 18th) through next Friday (the 25th). I see on the website this coincides with Beer Fest, starting on Saturday. We were planning on checking in later in the evening/at night on Friday and just want to ensure there will be sufficient dollies/racks for getting all of our luggage/baby supplies up to our room in a timely manner. Or, would you recommend checking-in early Saturday morning?

I am sorry you experienced such a delay at Bel’lago last night and personally apologize for any inconvenience experienced by you and your family. Like most restaurants, we schedule staff according to the expected volume of business as we did last night. However, the unexpected fire at the Galleria closed that dining room for several hours and everyone then went to Bel’lago overloading the staff and kitchen. We moved some staff from the Galleria but it was not enough to prevent some waiting. The food and service at Bel’lago is usually very good and I am sorry you could not enjoy it. Please forward your room number (if you have not checked out) or mailing address and I will send you a certificate for dinner for you and your family so you have the opportunity to enjoy the food and service Bel’lago usually provides.

Again, I am sorry for your experience last night and trust you realize some circumstances are beyond our control.

Mr. Arnett, we are here at b’alago desperately trying to get dinner for ourselves and three children. Unfortunately your new system of not taking reservations is also not working. We checked in at 6:30 and were told we were the first on the wait list. At 7:00 we checked in with your very stressed hostess and she had us marked as already seated. There was a table for 5 available but as she happened to explain to us, she didn’t have time to bus our table. I then went to your manager who was bartending and got us seated. It is one hour and 15 minutes since we walked in and still no meal. My children are chewing your very nice wood tables. There are a plethora of empty tables around us so I am thinking your “system” needs some tweaks. For starters, may I suggest some staff to help with the weekend crowd. I
Have a sense of humor but it only goes so far. BTW, the “Thank u for talking2 me comes off as a tad insincere.
For the record, it is now 10 minutes later and your table will definitely need refinishing from the teeth marks in it.

So I had planned a Bday party for my boyfriends daughter there a couple weeks ago. The kids did enjoy the park however were disappointed that the surf ride wasn’t working. I was dissappointed with the party park. The designed area was suppose to be set up w balloons and there were none. Even stated on my contract that there would be. The food was good and the cake looked beautiful once it was brought out. I had asked for the cake about 15 minutes after the pizza was served and it came out about a half hour later, 10 minutes till closing. No one seemed to know much about anything. For the money that was spent for the park and to have one of the rides not opperating and the unorganization of the party I was quite disappointed.

Hi Sam,

Hope you are well. Craig and I are heading up this weekend (Nov.5).We are so excited to see everyone! We have been looking forward to this trip since we left Splitrock after our August vacation. We are staying at Westwood ( I LOVE Westwood!) and I was wondering if our villa (Unit: 1039 ) has many steps going into the villa? I know the villa itself has steps but I was hoping there are not too many steps outside. I am turning into an old lady and my knees are a mess! Do you have snow up there or did it all melt?I was thinking maybe we should bring our snow boots and winter coats. Sun, rain sleet, snow, hurricane doesn’t matter it’s always our vacation paradise. See Ya Saturday!!!!

My husband and I are owners here at Galleria and always enjoy our time here. However, I was surprised that the upstairs was shut down. Did communication go out to the owners about the explosion and notice that some of the facilities would not be available? During the summer, it would have had less impact on my stay here, but instead I had to drive to Mt Laurel to use the gym each day. More importantly, before we drive up here again, do you have an estimated time schedule that you will be re-opening that section? Thanks. Cheryl

Just want to say thank you to you and your staff. My husband was happy to hear a friendly and helpful voice on the other end of the line when he called recently to make last minute reservations. Like many, we were left with no power or telephone service in New Jersey due to the recent snow storm. With a son who is handicapped and the two of us adults with colds, we couldn’t take the cold anymore. Our son doesn’t understand the concept of no electricity either. There were no hotels in the area, and most hotels were taking advantage with increased prices. We are timeshare owners at Mountain Laurel, so I had this fantastic brainstorm about driving out here. Just what we needed!!!! Thank you, thank you!

Ms. Sutton:

Up to this point no one erased your comments from my Blog; it just takes 24 to 48 hours for them to post. I believe you attended the World TSDA Tournament and hope you enjoyed the program.

I am sorry the weekend snow storm frustrated you to the point you made personal attacks on me and my staff. Our plow trucks were out all day Saturday clearing resort roads. Considering State Routes 903 and 940 were closed at various times throughout the day as well as I-80 and I-81 our plowing effort was equal to the county and state. The storm was a problem because the snow was very wet (making it difficult to plow) and quickly turned to ice.

All day Saturday and up until 1 AM Sunday there was a Manager on Duty present as well as the Director of Public Safety and Night Manager. I was on property 11 hours during the day.

Snow storms are difficult for driving no matter the conditions. Our staff was able to get around the resort by driving very slowly to limit the possibility of loss of tracktion and loosing control of their vehicles. Each incident we investigated was caused by excessive speed for the conditions of snow and ice.

Again, I am sorry you were so up set and personally apologize for the inconvenience of the storm and the conditions it created.

Thank you for Talking2Me.

I was reading the blog above and am now concerned about the dining options. I was planning on eating all of our meals at your resort and am worried that I may not be able to get seating now. I called SR and was told they do not take reservations. Is there a specific time that is better to go to the restaurants? Also, does your resort offer any anniversary “packages” or discounts? I would like to do something special for my husband while I am there. Any suggestions would be great! See you soon!

We closed our business center when we offered complimentary WIFI. It was no longer visited as most people used their own computers through our service. At the present time we have no plans on opening the business center again.

Judging from the email address I am bloging to Mr. or Mrs. Flynn:

Since the turn over time for a table in a restaurant can be from 1 to 2 hours (depending on the size of the party) a guest can walk into an empty dining room and will not be able to be seated due to reservations that are coming for the next 1 to two hours. Many guests do not understand this and that is the reason we no longer take reervations except for parties of ten or more. Hopefully that will eliminate your seating problem. However staff call offs can also cause seating delays. I will promise you we will work on more efficient seating and can hopefully improve by your Christmas visit.

I eat out frequently at the branded restaurant chains you mention and every single one of them cannot get food out of their kitchens to the table in a reasonable time. How long do you wait for your entree after you finished your salad? Think about it for a minute and I think you may agree with me. In the day, the entree arrived just as the salad was finished but not today.

I will be looking for you Mr. & Mrs. Flynn to make sure you have pleasant dining experiences during your Christmas visit. If I may be of further assistance, please feel free to contact me through my blog and directly at sam.arnett@splitrockresort.com.

Thank you for Talking2Me.

Sam,

I wanted to write you to suggest that the owner and management consider adding more food options at the resort. I have been visiting for 8 years, countless times each year, and each time I am always disappointed with the dining options. Each time, I bring at least 2 other families with me, and they too feel the same way.

It is always the same issues, each restaurant reports that there are no tables, but I am standing right there and there is a room of empty tables, service is slow, and generally they are not very flexible at all. I wish you would rent space to a restaurant chain that would provide an expected level of food service.

With the exception of disappointment in the food options, we have a great time.

We will be there again, Christmas week, and just to prove my point, my friends are already asking what will we do for food there.

Thanks.

I am a timeshare owner and am coming up Aug 28th and staying a week. When i called the resort earlier in the month they said there was going to a be trick or treat party for the kids which I told my children about. When I called today to confirm date and time I was told this was for Hallwoeen package guests only. Is this true? If so I am going to ahve some disappointed kids

If I can offer one recommendation it would be this. Please provide a business office with a printer that owners/customers could have the ability to print reservations/confirmations for events during their stay here.

It is good to see that they are working on the indoor pool at the Lodge. It really needed it! Paneling looks good, what are the plans for the flooring and pool itself? While they are at it, a few lightbulbs need to be relaced. Will be a big improvement!!

The water park tickets are not included in your week’s stay. However, if you see me when you register at the Galleria front desk, I will give you a discount card for the water park.

I am sorry but we cannot change your reservation to the fall package.

I am sorry but we are bound by the terms of our contract with Eversave and have to follow their procedures. However, if you contact me directly at sam.arnett@splitrockresort.com and mention this conversation about Eversave, I will see if I can come up with a package from our inventory that will come close to matching theirs.

There aren’t enough pictures of the accommodations. It gives you a description of the room with one picture. Can you post more pictures of each room? You also can’t access other pictures of the resort. The website is very limited in access.

I attempted to purchase the EverSave promotion for your park last night at the 11th hour. Unfortunately, I was not able to keep internet connection to complete the transaction. I have contacted your reservation department and EverSave and both indicated there was nothing they were able or willing to do to honor the deal that was set to expire last night. I thought it was at least worth asking if you would be willing to honor that package. If so, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Shawn

I was wondering why the resort doesn’t do more “owner sponsered events”, such as the Wine and Beerfest, to draw in business. They seem to do very well, and although I am sure it is a harrowing amount of work , and preparation for such events, and advertising costs, why doesn’t your resort try to create more business in this way? Just wondering, because Shawnee seems to have so many of these slrt “festivals”, that give it an appeal to the public. they have the Garlic fest, the Lumberjack fest, the Wing off, and more that draws locals.
Just wondering why Split Rock doesn’t try to host or even create more fun.

Hello Sam Arnett

I have been to Splitrock a couple of times and enjoyed it tremendously. Having a b’day party there next week too.

If I may say, this forum is not user friendly – you should be able to reply to a query right under the questions. It does not make sense to have to scroll up and down for answers…

Even free software is available for this….

Please don’t pick Father’s day weekend for the wine festival for 2012. I have been attending for the last 3 years and the attendance last year appeared significantly down. I know several people that did not attend because of Father’s day weekend.
