I bleieve they have arranged for you to stay through Sunday and I am sure if you talk to Anna Cataldo your other concerns will be taken care of. My family and I just checked in today and when I tried checking in, I heard the words nobody wants to hear after driving three hours,,,,,,,Your resevations were cancelled!!!!!! I’ve been an owner here for over five years and know how the system works. I’ve traded over and over and split my weeks every year!!! On that note, last week I called owner services to inquire about other dates that I may want to switch this week for! I only called to inquire!!! The women on the phone that I spoke to ( i dont remember he name) was very nice and I told her my situation I was having and that I might need to change to another week!!! when I hung up with her I clearly stated, I’m not cancelling my reservation!!! I NEVER STATED ONCE TO HER I WAS CANCELING!! She took it upon herself to cancel my reservation because of my situation!! Why would I drive with my family three hours, small child when I cancelled a vacation!! Now i’m in building two, second floor, which I booked building five first floor months ago!! Plus the big kicker,,,,they told me they have no availability and I gotta leave on Saturday,,,MY TIME SHARE WAS UNTIL SUNDAY……I couldnt be more upset right now,,as u see the time I’m typing this,,The assitant manager was very condisending and I didnt appreciate the way she spoke to me! not once did she say, that there may have been a mistake on there part!!!! I’m so tired of all the mistakes this place makes!! I paid good money for my time share and dont expect this treatment,,,I’m still waiting for the manager to call me back!!!!! I’m in room 2113C..Please help me!!

Just wanted to let you know that my family and I just returned from Split Rock today 8/29/10 we only stayed 2nights..This was our 1st time at the resort and we where very happy..There is so much to do that the 2days that we had wasnt enough. Everything was clean and the Activities were great..Love the Beach area so clean and the view is beautiful. We are thinking about coming in the winter to see what the resort offers with outside activities and we want to do the Water Park. Just wondering as a guest at the resort why there isnt any discount to go to the waterpark. . It looks like guest pay the same amount as a person just coming to the water park. Only because with a family of 5 we would spent over 200.00 Dollars. I know there was a H2o package, but we wanted the Bowling and Tennis etc..package.and there wasnt any package with all encluded. If only they was a package that a guest can add what they wanted to do. For example we liked the bowling, and didnt want the movies but had to take it because it was part of the package, We wanted the mini golf, but had to pay because we couldnt take another package. (This isnt a complaint just wanted to ask.) I feel if a guest can add on what they wanted it would be better so some things wouldnt go to waste like for us the 5 movie tickets did .
We were very happy with all and we are coming next summer as well, just adding a couple of more days.

Thank you for the comments on your recent stay at Split Rock Resort. We will be taking corrective action on several of the items you mentioned. The entrance to the Lodge is under renovation now and will be completed later this fall. We will also be working on the interior as well.
The $1 toll for using the road that goes through the resort is used for maintenance of that road. It is a private road seperate from the resort.

Unfortunately i did not receive your email before leaving for our vacation (Aug 20-27) and upon check in found the unti I was in was not renovated and there were no renovated units available in Westwood. Upon entering the unit I found it dated but clean, just as you had described. The only tip you might want to give the housekeeping staff is to vaccuum around the mattresses on the platform beds…other than that I found the unit very clean and i am a freak about those things. We had one problem on the first night which was the refridgerator and subsequently the freezer stopped working. Maintenance was there within 10 minutes of my call and it was around 9pm…the gentelman fixed it within a few minutes and said to check in an hour and if necessary he would replace it…it was fine after his fix. The only other problem was on Sunday (you may recall it was a rainy week starting with downpours on Saturday night). On Sunday morning I came up to the living room to see a big bulge in the wallpaper…it was filled with water. Then noticed water dripping down the wall from the ceiling and the floor wet. Water was also coming in from the window casing. I called maintenance again and had a little longer wait but the gentleman that came was very nice and upon looking at the wall said he would try to get his supervisor to have us moved. About 20 minuted later i received a call from the supervisor stating that she was moving us to a renovated unit that was being cleaned at the time and to wait for a call back to tell us when we could move. I was fine with the solution although didn’t anticipate the length of time it took to get the new unit ready. We packed everything up to move then just sat around watching TV for a couple of hours. Even with the wait I was very thankful to be moved and the renovated unit was very nice. The rest of our week was problem free and we had a great time even with the weather. We loved Bel’lago and ate there three times…we had a great waiter and no long wait times at all. Ate at the Galleria once and wouldn’t recommend it, the food was just not good and staff not the same calibre as the other restaurant. LOVED the ice cream parlor and had a great time at Bingo, Turtle Races and trivia. all in all we enjoyed our stay despite the rough start and found the staff very attentive. To say I was extremely worried after reading the reviews is an under statement so I will be leaving a positive review on Tripadvisor as I do not think those that exist there are accurate. The calander is not the final say, it is a general listing. Doc Holiday changes his activity schedule weekly and sometimes daily depending on the weather. I am sure you will find a lot do do at Split Rock.

I am very happy you and your guests enjoyed your time at Split Rock and would return again in the future. I apologize for your experience at our Pizzeria and have asked our Food and Beverage Director to look into the matter and take corrective action.
The final nine holes of our 36 hole course are moving slowly at this time due to financing. We hope to have the course finished within the next two years. Right now we have 27 playable holes on a great course.
If you decide to visit us again, please let me know and I will make sure you get an actual golf view and a complimentary pizza.

I can tell you we are located between (right out our gates) Jack Frost and Big Boulder ski areas. In addition we have great sledding, dog sled rides, snow shoe hikes and ice fishing on property. Doc Holiday always has a terrific schedule of things to do during the winter season.

My husband and I and our two kids, ages 11 and 13 just came back from 2 nights and 3 days at Split Rock (Aug 22-24). We had a great time, we had never been there before and honestly felt alittle nervous after reading so many mixed reviews on the hotel. We booked a Splash and Stay package, we stayed in the Willowbrook 1BR suite which was a very nice spacious room forthe four of us and we received waterpark passes from Sunday at 4pm thru Tuesday the day we checked out. My kids loved the waterpark which we went to 4 times over the course of the three days. We played bowling, bingo and ping pong, used the indoor pool and had alot fun. Unfortunately the weather this past week was rainy and cold so we could not really use the outdoor facilities. We had a very nice relaxing few days at Split Rock and would definately come again. So many people take the time to write negative reviews, I thought I would write a positive one.

To my knowledge there are no bed bugs in Westwood Villas. Some of the units have not been renovated and are worn and dated but clean. Many people feel worn units are also dirty and that is not the case. One of the fires at Westwoods was caused by a guest cooking food in a frying pan and leaving it unattended in the unit while visiting another villa. The second was in unoccupied units under renovation. The villas are as safe as the guests staying in them. There are no electrical or other structual issues that would make a villa unsafe.

Our resort is bed bug free and will remain so until another guest brings them in. As soon as they are discovered we heat treat the unit killing them immediately; it takes about three hours at 140 degrees.
As far as Trip Advisor goes, we have found far too many of the postings greatly exaggerated, out right lies, made by people who have never stayed here or former employees and in some cases our competition. The worst part is the people who make the postings do not have to identify themselves and we like to talk to people we know.
We take care of the people we know and that includes the few who had bed bug problems. This is the main reason I started this blog. By the way, Mike, the voice of our guests speak directly to us just like you have. They do not have to hide behind Trip Advisor.

i am a time share owner like some of your other guests. i brought my grandchildren for the first time 08/10/2010 thru 08/15/2010. they had a great time but even with docs activity schedule a family of eight (six kids) you can’t afford to pay for activities for seven days. we only spent 4 and a half days of our seven and spent close to 500.00 dollars.but the worse thing is everything is outdated ex. bowling alleys constantly break and we were told they are old. well we paid 32.00 for that game! paying for indoor activities like basketball and tennis when your a guest is really to much. h2o is nice but it is 10.00 more per person than a lmuch larger outdoor watyerpark in your area. i must say our service is always good and units at willowbrook in good shape but if you want this a family resort rather than an adult resort you should try to make activities a bit more reasonable. little note we were there at the end of summer season and most of your seasonal help is clueless. better orientation might help.

I wanted to give you some feedback on our recent visit:
THE GOOD: Our Moseywood villa was better than expected. It was very clean, more than enough room and convenient to the rest of the resort. The activities staff was great, esp. John who was a world of knowledge about the area. The kids enjoyed their activities, although Danny could use an energy boost.
THE BAD: I asked you about storage of our bikes and you said you would have a bike rack moved to our unit, but it never happened. I didn’t ask for it; it wasn’t necessary (we just stored them under the deck); but if you promise something, you should deliver. The pizza place at the Galleria is very inefficient. We ordered a couple of slices, sandwiches and a salad and waited over 30 mins for our food.
THE UGLY: After our first night, housekeeping called and we told them we didn’t need the room cleaned that day. However, they never showed up the second day either. We called late afternoon and a rude woman named Carmen said “you must have had the ‘do not disturbe’ sign out (I don’t even think we had one). Serious attitude on this one.
CONCLUSION: We had a great time and would recommend your resort.
I do not believe you have to be concerned about the cleanliness of the guest rooms; some of our units are worn and dated but they are clean. The majority of the reviews you see on Trip Advisor are greatly exaggerated and blown way out of reality. Some are written by former disgruntled employees, people who never stayed here, pranksters and our competitors. If you want a more accurate picture of the resort read my blog as I started it to combat the point blank lies on some of the review sites. The difference between these sites and my blog is you have to identify yourself on the blog somthing the review sites could care less about.

We are coming to your resprt on Monday for a 5 day short vacation. We wanted todo something different so when we saw youe website we felt we found what we were looking for. We have read some of your blogs as well as other reviews of your resort and my wife is having second thoughts.. She fears that the rooms my family has will be dirty and possibly even worse.. she has read of children wtih asthma getting sick…my son has asthma and this concerns us greatly. We understand fully that as said in your blog its not a five sar hotel, but we do expect certain standards in our hotel accomodations, I do not mean to offend but I believe if you were a new customers at you resort if you read what was out there you too would having second thoughts…. if you would like to have my reservation number I would be glad to email it to you if you want. After reading your posting, I researched our maintenance and front desk logs and could not find anything reported on room 5821 during your stay. There are two phone numbers posted in the unit that advise guests they can call extension 851 for maintenance and housekeeping needs and extension 781 if they need to speak to me.
Cooking that produces smoke does set fire alarms off in all of our buildings and I believe our maintenance staff advised your party of that. I inspect the indoor pool every morning and there is no stench and the water is clear. Under heavy use, the water may cloud from the oils and various products personally applied on the swimmers skin. The filtering system clears the water within hours. Our water quality is tested several times a day and an outside firm takes weekly readings; we have never failed a water test at our indoor pool.
I have no idea of what kind of credit you are looking for and ask that you e mail that information to sam.arnett@splitrockresort.com and I will look into the matter.
I am sorry you were disatisfied with your stay and am sure we could have corrected you concerns had we known about them.

The arcade games have been fixed and remain in good condition.
The hot tubs by fitness are not working as we are waiting for financing to do the project.
The night club by the dining room is used for some evening entertainment and the pit lounge is used on slower days.

I am not one to complain but the quality and service that my family experienced was VERY poor. The lock on our door was busted and did not work properly for 2 days. It was a hassle going to the main lobby & waiting online just to get someone to open our door. It took time away from our vacation. Also, we couldn’t open the windows while we were cooking since it was broken. I’ve notified the people at the front desk but no one ever came up. Whenever we cooked the fire alarm would go off so my kids had to fan it the entire time I was cooking. Was this really a vacation? I’ve asked for a credit but all they said was ‘they are working on it’ and still I have not received a credit. And the indoor pool at the Galleria – there was a bad stench and wasn’t even filitering properly. The water was clearly murky!
My husband and I purchased timeshare in June of 1992 in Williamsburg, VA. We have traveled to many resorts within the United States. For the most part, we have very happy with our accomodations. This summer we have decided to stay closer to home and will be checking in to The Galleria at Split Rock this Sunday, August 15, 2010. We have stayed previously at this resort a few times but always in the winter months. We are especially looking forward to visiting Harmony Lake. I will note that we have always been happy with our units, I do agree that much could be done in the renovation department, but understand the reasons behind this. Your activities department is phenomenal and we have always been impressed with our interactions with your employees. I realize that unfortunately when visitors post comments, you seem to get more negative than positive. I just want to let you know that we again anticipate a great week at Split Rock. We will have some young grandsons visiting us and anything you can do to upgrade our unit and/or make sure it is inspected for cleanliness would be appreciated. We own our timeshare points through Diamond Resorts and always exchange through Interval International when we visit The Galleria. Our reservation is under Robert and Diane Williams. The PA Fish and Game Commission partols the Lake Harmony area constantly and have a dim viey of anyone fishing in their waters without a license. The fines are heavy as well. We canhelp you get the license when you arrive.

Here is a list of all the items that we found wrong with our room:
the mattress was horrible, no support and bowed in the middle.
the mattress’s had black spots on it (mold?)
it rained for a while on our last day and the rain came thru the window moldings.
I had to kill two bugs on the ceiling of the room- which was unacceptable but when you have children sleeping in the room it’s down right disgusting.
I went to the front desk on day one and asked about the mattress and bug issues and they responded that the bug issues happens because of being situated on the lake (seriously?) While I was told that all the rooms have similiar bedding I was at least offered the chance to move to another room in that buidling however a move to another building was not possible without us having to pay the difference. (how is that fair?)
I should have called you and asked for your assistance with these issues while we were there but stupidly I did not, I just took what the front desk told me to be gospel. Like two of your employees mentioned to me after I told them about our room situation,” what do you expect form the rock?”
I know you cannot correct the past for me however I strongly recommend that management put some money into overhauling that building as I would not receommend staying at the lodge to anyone, let alone someone staying with children.

I am happy you and your family enjoyed some of the food at the Galleria and Bel’lago.
For your information we do not give large salads at Bel’lago to make up for small entree portions. All of our portion sizes are industry standard or larger. We have changed our veal purveyor due to other comments like yours about a tough product.
I apologize for the actions of our time share sales staff and have copied your comments to the Director of Sales for the marketing company. I am sure he will be meeting with the individuals involved and retraining them to make sure no one else experiences what you and your husband did.
We do provide discounts to the water park for hotel guests through our Splash and Stay packages and the Adventure Card. We have several room and water park ticket packages (Splash & Stay) that provide water park admittance at greatly reduced rates and the Adventure Card provides seven half price entries plus discounts at resort outlets and area mercahnts. I am sorry you were not aware of these offers.

A concern: We reserved a room at the lakeside lodge with a cot .. an upper level room is our preference, but were told our room would be on the ground floor, I think it should be enough time to request this.. A friend who has stayed at the resort mentioned that the room may be too small for my family. I called and there are two 1-bedroom suites available at the Galleria. I have also been told to make sure we get a renovated room (as we have 3 asthmatics in the family) no matter which building we decide to stay in..
Would the Galleria option make more sense? We look forward to your response so we can make an informed decision.

My son, husband, and sister arrived at Split Rock Resort on Sunday, August 1st. We are staying in the Slope Side Mini Suites. This is the first time we have ever vacationed at your resort.
I have to tell you, my feelings are mixed about Split Rock. On a positive note, Maria, who checked us in was wonderful! She was friendly and had a wonderful personality and sense of humor. The service was outstanding at both the Galleria Restaurant and the Bel’lago Restaurant. The Galleria burgers were outstanding but the nachoes were terrible. The food at the Bel’lago was horrible. The servings were very small for the price and the veal was tough and overcooked. The salad, on the other hand, was beautiful, delicious and plentiful. I got the impression that due to the small dinner portions, a large salad was given to compensate. After eating at Bel’lago, we have chosen to eat off property for the rest of our vacation. I am so glad that we made this decision, we had one of the most outstanding meals in Jim Thorpe!
My husband and I are interested in a timeshare so we decided to do the timeshare tour. When we arrived back at the Welcome Center with our timeshare salesperson (who was very nice by the way) the manager wanted to make a sale, dropping the price of the unit by approximately $9,000.00. When he realized that at this time we were unable to give the deposit, he walked away, burying his head in a newspaper, and ignoring our goodbyes as we left. We were sent to the “television room” to wait for our $100.00 and $20.00 refund. A man came in, took us to his office, where he offered us a timeshare for a little over $5,000.00. We were very surprised at the drastic drop in price. Before the sales pitch continued, I mentioned that we had to go, we were going boating. He commented that we can afford to boat but we cannot afford a timeshare. I thought that this was rude, unprofessional, and unacceptable. I have been in sales myself and I have to tell you, I would never treat a client that way. These tactics are in my opinion, unfortunate and the owner of your resort should be ashamed for allowing these unprofessional practices to continue.
Lastly, I think that the prices for your waterpark are outrageous. The fact that you do not offer discounts to those that stay on the property is unacceptable. We are staying here at Split Rock Resort and I believe that you should honor that and provide discounts. I have stayed at waterpark resorts in the past and this is the only one that does not give admission disccounts to their guests. This is both greedy and in my opinion, bad business on your part. Talk about overpriced and not worth the admission you are asking!
Finally, I have to tell you, IF we come back, I will be more aware of what you get and what you have to offer.

Mr. Arnett, we have two parties arriving at Willowbrook on August 15th. The unit number on our reservations says F. I would like to find out if the two units will be adjacent as requested when I booked with Interval. If units have already been assigned, can you tell me which unit they are in, and if they have been recently updated? Thank you.
I am not a fan of Trip Advisor because they allow anyone to post without identifying themselves and verifying they actually stayed at the property they are reviewing and that there is any truth to their claims.
Split Rock Resort is showing its age and some facilities and amenities are wearing to the point of renovation. However, the resort is clean. There are no bed bug infestations and will not be until a guest brings some in. Our bed bug problems are 100% cured with in 24 hours of discovery. I frequently stay over at the resort and have always found the Willowbrook bedding to be very comfortable. The pools are cleaned several times during the day but all experience heavy usage during the summer months.
Your children will enjoy the resort as there is so much for them to do.

I will say that finding this blog and seeing how you responded to all issues has by itself given me some confidence in SplitRock.
The unit is a renovated two bedroom townhouse with living/dining area and kitchen on upper level and two bedrooms, two baths, sauna and whirlpool on the bottom level.
The activities for the holiday weekend will be similar to those posted on our web site http://www.splitrockresort.com with a few additions just for holiday weekend. The holiday schedule will be posted one week prior to the Labor Day weekend.
During the summer we do not offer discounts to the water park with the exception of the Adventure card which provides seven water park tickets and discounts at the resort and area businesses for $99. There is no charge for one year olds.

This note is in regards to the Judson Family Reunion scheduled for Sunday July 25 through Thursday July 29, 2010. Members of this family have been planning this reunion since September of 2009. My husband and I came to the resort and decided this would be the best place to hold such an event. We have family coming from California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This has personally been an exhausting venture to make sure your personnel has everything they need from us in a timely manner and we have kept our promise.
However, today I find out that there is a major issue with three of our reserved rooms for three families. No one has ever mentioned in the past that promises would not be kept. Your group reservations staff wanted prior reservations for specific rooms for different families by a certain date. Phone calls were made, deposits given, we have done our part and now this disappointing (without regret from your group reservations staff) that these were requests, not reservations! I would say this is rude and ridiculous! Can you imagine how these people will feel after traveling all day to find out NOW they will not have the rooms they reserved and paid for?
I will be waiting patiently to hear your response as to how you will resolve this issue today!

I am writing on behalf of the participants in the Judson Family Reunion scheduled for your Split Rock Resort from Sunday, July 25 through Wednesday, July 28. A situation has arisen that is unacceptable to the local and long-distance planners of this first-ever event.
Three of the rooms that were requested for various personal reasons we are now told at the last minute are not available because of a need to satisfy “some time share people who, even at the last minute, get preference” over folks like us. The rooms offered to these attendees are not acceptable. Since September of 2009 we have gone out of our way to provide Split Rock with everything they said they needed when it was needed…even before.
I realize that we may be a small group by your standards but we are a diverse group with diverse needs and reserved our rooms to provide the comfort level our attendees expected.
Please tell me that you will be able to correct this for us.

You will find the Galleria to be clean and showing some age as we have not renovated the public areas and units recently. Our Executive Housekeeper is European trained and very good. If you forward your confirmation number to sam.arnett@splitrockresort.com, I will have your unit thoroughly inspected prior to your arrival.
I frequently stay unannounced overnight at the resort and have always found the units clean with very few minor exceptions. During the summer months we run close to 100% occupancy and I do not think we would be able to do this year after year if our units were unsanitary. Please understand that Split Rock is not a five star property; it is however a very good three star resort with more amenities than any other resort in the area.

My initial response is I wish people would not bring them into hotel and resorts. That aside, if we suspect a problem with bed bugs, ticks, fleas or other insects, the unit is inspected by our Chief Engineer, Executive Housekeeper and pest control contractor.
If there is no evidence of infestation, the room is stripped, sealed and placed out of inventory for 60 days. It is reinspected weekly and if there is no further evidence, the unit receives a preventative treatment and is returned to inventory. If evidnece appears in the unit it is treated by our contractor.
If there is evidence of infestation, the unit is stripped, sealed and treated by our contractor a minimum of three to six times and is held out of inventory for 90 days.
Since bed bugs are brought into the resort by guests staying overnight, we tran our housekeepers and supervisors to recognize any sign of them when cleaning the unit. This training is on going and thorough.
Please remember we are in the mountains and often flea and tick bites are mistaken for bed bug bites and it is very difficult to tell the difference between them. Of the two reviews you spoke of, one of them did not show any sign of infestation when examined by our contractor and it is now out of inventory for sixty days. The second one may be a possible infestation. Both will be treated as a precaution and the one held out of inventory for 90 days.
We have over 600 overnight accommodations at the resort and I assure you with the exception of the one unit all of them are clean and bed bug free.
If you forward your confirmation number to sam.arnett@splitrockresort I will personally inspect your unit with our contractor prior to your arrival.
In closing, I would like to mention that a bed bug investation at Split Rock is rare and if one does occur, the matter is quickly investigated, the guest advised and treatment is swift and thorough to eliminate the problem before the unint is rented again.

Unfortunately a couple of years ago during spring break,I lost a digital camera and a lot of money that was in my camera case in the movie theater. I was there for a presentation and my camera was taken. I left notes all over the hotel asking for my digital picutres which I never got back. The money I know was not going to be returned. Hope you enjoyed your spending spree, but isn’t ironic how bad luck goes around. The person who took my belongings, and you know who you are, I cannot wish you enough bad luck for the rest of your life.
Cottage renters are able to use facilities that are open to the public. Other amenities require a recreation pass that the owner of the cottage purchases for his or her renters.

Stayed there at Willowbrook 6-20 2010 to 6-27-2010. Had a very nice time. The only thing was there were a number of private parties at he lake beach. I just wish they had at least one cookout or something we could participate in. Last year I remember paying a $10 fee and enjoying it very much. I hope I don’t seem silly? We are returning on 7-10-2010. Can’t wait to get back there.
Last summer, the hot tubs in the 2nd floor fitness area of the Galleria were closed. Prior to that time, your blog said that they would be opened again in May 09, but they were still closed when we visited in June 09. Is this nice area open again, or has this amenity gone to the bottom of the list? We always enjoy this area, and were disappointed that it had been closed for so long. Thanks for answering!

Just got back from the week trip, sorry did not get a chance to meet you, but surprising to the “City folk people”, we had a ball. The villas you moved us to was GREAT. I would highly recommend them to all.

I guess I have to fess up and tell you the story of my picture. When I frist started the blog I had my picture displayed and one reader who knew me personally told me the picture me look like a grumpy old man. Then she let me know a second time and a third. As a joke, I posted a picture of Paul Newman in my place. That resulted in a few more comments from a few more people so I moved George Clooney in for a while. As time went on I got tired of looking at Goerge every time I visited my blog so Mr. O’Connor came along. I am now seriously thinking of replacing him with Cary Grant. My name is Marge Savino, and my 5 sisters and me are due in at your resort on Saturday for one week. I wanted to take this time to bring to your attention the outstanding service we received from Loretta in your time share office. She demonstrated an amazingly, kind and willing spirit to help us with a dilemna we had. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
My sisters and I got our timeshare many years ago. We did it so we’d have a place to gather once a year ~ just us gals. With life always so busy, and time being a bandit for sure, we’ve come over the years to look so forward to our week together. We live throughout the east coast, and most of the time, only get to see each other on this week we gather for, and properly named “Sister Week!” When we’re together it’s a very, low-key atmosphere. We cook together ~ so a big kitchen is always a must, we play cards, we have a book club ~ but most of all Sam we just love being together. For many years prior to the timeshare purchase we would gather at one of our homes each year. However, after a few years we decided that we had to look for an alternative place because the sister who hosted it always worked so hard. Hence the purchase of a timeshare ~ and since we’ve never looked back. When we exchange our week we always look for that “home setup” and villas, while not always available, are really the best suited for us.
This year we exchanged our week for a week at your other facility ~ Mt. Laurel Resort and Spa. And while we knew we weren’t getting a villa, it was still an opportunity to see somewhere else in our part of the country. We had tried to get one at your resort but to no avail.
Fast forward to yesterday morning ~ Wednesday. I got a call with some very disturbing information about the resort we were only days away from arriving at. It was first hand information too Sam so I knew it to be true, and my friend was insistent we not stay there. But the wheels for our annual trip have been in motion for over a year, and now days away from actually arriving at the resort I knew I had to try and do something. And this is how I talked with Loretta.
I contacted your timeshare office and got Loretta on the line. She said she had time to listen, and I explained what had happened, and asked if there was a possibility to transfer to Split Rock. She was extremely kind and understaanding, and shared that while there wasn’t any availability at that time, she’d make a note in the system to call us if something came up, especially if there was a villa too. She also, shared that upon our arrival at Mt. Laurel to call them to see if there had been a cancellation. Well I’m sure you know we figured, while she was very kind we probably would not hear back as this is summer time, and the Poconos are reowned for their “cool” get aways!
Well imagine how THRILLED we were to get the message today we had our reservations moved to your facility! Sam ~ to us Loretta is an angel, truly! She demonstrates to us an immeasurable amount of “real, honest” care for the guest! And my sisters and I are already convinced that Split Rock is the kind of place that you can overlook anything when you know the staff really does care about you!
So, in closing we can’t WAIT to arrive at our villa Sam ~ and perhaps we’ll even meet you too! And if not ~ during the week just follow the aroma of some amazing cooking because that’ll be us! Thanks again ~ so very much for hiring employees like Loretta! She’s the geniune article!

I just booked our stay for the 4th of July weekend. This will be the first time that my family will attend your resort and we are looking foward to it. I was very happy with all the activities our resort has to offer. It seems that it has everything for everyone. I will come back and write to you about my experience in yuor resort after our stay. Well it’s that time again and we will be arriving in a couple of weeks. I checked out the calendar of events and it looks like we will miss the fireworks again. One of these years we will hit it right. Last year there was a excellant 4th of July picnic down at the lake. I was wondering if this was going to happen again this year. Great website and you offer a fabulous wine & beer festival. Split Rock is also very clean with a lot of amenities. I have never stayed there, but I have been on numerous occasions.

When we were there last July there were a few times during the week that different excercise classes were offered throughout the day, like kickboxing, step aerobics, etc. Is this still offered, how can I see a schedule of what is typically offered in a week as far as group exercise classes?

I apologize if some of our operators were short with you and only hope you realize they usually have calls backed up and the answers to most of the questions they are asked can be found on our web site. I will be staying at split rock for the 2nd time the last week of June through July 4th. When we came last year in February the kids had a great time and are looking forward to our visit at the end of the month. I have a few questions — I know we receive a coupon book as timeshare owners but I know there are other “deals” to be had. Can you explain the adventure card and how it works? Also I ‘ve heard mention of an “activity?” card – not sure that’s the right name. Are there any other typers of discount packages that would be useful to know about? Are ther discounts for the waterpark?
Since this is our first summer trip I’m curious about the activities…can you explain what’s available at the lake – i.e. boating – what type and cost?
How do the activities work…are things like softball games scheduled…do you have gloves for the players or should I bring?
Can’t wait to come and see the fireworks on the 3rd.

I just found this site as I have been doing more “research” on the area before we arrive to the resort in the next few days. I have read several places that there is a coupon/discount for the waterpark, but I have not been able to find anything. If there is such a thing, could you please enlighten me on its whereabouts? Our schools here in VA finish earlier and we are headed up for a weeklong vacation before the summer rush. My daughters are very eager to spend the week at the resort and have been visiting the website quite often since we booked back in December ’09. From time to time, I have called the resort with questions on various topics as I have been trying to plan the week out and several times I have been disappointed by the responses/attitudes of the individulas who answer the phone. I REALLY hope that these first impressions do not carry over and signify what the staff at the resort truly represents. I am looking forward to a fun-filled week!

Bel’lago dining room was understaffed for the volume of business experienced due to employee call offs and management forecasting a lower volume of business. I agree that the hostess did not handle your situation correctly and I will talk to her.
The Galleria menu has changed to provide more variety of food offerings to our guests. The Chef and the kitchen staff haven not changed. We have received many favorable comments on the change and I am sorry it fails to meet your personal expectations. We plan on semi annual revisions to the present menu offerings and hoepfully the changes will be more to your liking.
The bowling alley attendant will be retrained in guest relations. No matter how busy we are there is no place for being rude.
We will work very hard to make the changes necessary to eliminate your concerns. I am sure you will see a vast improvement on your next visit.

Love the site !!! I am coming via RCI for the first time to Split Rock and bringing 2 teens (21 and 18). We are coming late in June. Do you think they will have enough to do there ?
Also, been a little worried about the comments of the rooms being run down. I know people can be petty, but I have a wife that will not be happy with a run down room. We are staying in a 2 bedroom suite in the Galleria. Was wondering if you can see if we can get a remodeled room if available in the hotel, to make the visit pleasant. I am a TUG member, and would love to give the place glowing remarks !!!!

We have a 2 bedroom suite booked at the Galleria beginning August 16. In the past 15 years of coming to Split Rock we have only stayed in the Villas and admittedly, feel we may be “loosing” some privacy and home-like feel that they offer.
We’ve never actually been in a suite in the Galleria and the reviews look mixed? That being said, we’ll likely spend a lot of time out of the room looking for Doc’s wallet and enjoying all the other ammenities but it is still a bit of “gamble” to us to plan for a week. Is there a way to be put on a waiting list for a Villa? Is there only one bathroom and one tv for the whole suite? If so we may come up with a whole new series of Split Rock activities

My family and I have been guests of Split Rock Resort since 2000 and our boys Dean Jr 8 and Anthony 6 love the resort. We always stay in the VIP suite. The front desk Staff Stephine and the other reps are very helpful and very professional to us. We checked in 5/28-5/31 2010. The water park is great.
A few issue we had though. We had dinner at Bel’lagos on Friday and the service was very slow. We had a 7pm resevation and did not get our dinner till 40 mins later. The waiter Marc said they were a little behind. Then on Sunday we went back and had a 6:30pm resevation and the woman told us the there will be a 50 min wait to be served and she also let us know that she was suposed to leave at 3pm and she had to stay and they were short handed. I owned a resturant 5 years ago and if some had a resevation I would honor it and make it plesent for them even if I was short handed and we did not need to know the hostses busniess about she was to leave by 3pm that day. So we left and went to the Village Squier off of 115.
I see you changed the menu at the Galleria Resturant and the food was good there when you had the old menu and Abdul is a great person and we have been Friends for 10 years and you should have more people like him. I like the old menu and food better.
We took our 6 year old bowling about 8pm and all the lanes were taken so I ask Natatlie the person we was working in the bowling area and she said to me come back in 15 and then when I did she said did I put me name on a list. Well I did not see any list and she did not ask me to sign in when I asked her for a lane 15 before. Then she was very rude and said to me she is very ourwhelmed.
In ending I enjoy coming twice a year with my family and I have had friends come to the resort too. I feel this trip was not like the other we had in the past and again the front desk staff is very good and professional but, the issues we had could of been avoided.

I Like your picture. Did anyone ever tell you that you look like Carrol O’conner/ Archie Bunker. You could pass for his twin, or at least his brother. August is comming soon, we are getting anxious for our week @ Splitrock. But I’am getting very nervous that I can’t seem to get a second room for our Kids to share. Nothing on the internet with I.I. for Aug. @ all . I have been trying for months and nothings opened till sept. I know that splitrock told me that I can call to see If I can upgrade to a second bedroom on june the 14th but there is no garentee that I can get a second room @ this time. Any suggestions ? Our kids will be so disipointed If they can’t come with us. As they have asked off work for that week. Only one of our 3 children have ever seen splitrock. Any cancelations ? We will take a room any where in the resort, can we be put on a waiting list ? if you do get a cancelation. My husband and I will be staying @ willowbrook for the week of Aug. 13th – 20th I know that you did tell me thats your busy time of the year. But our daughter told us that they really frown upon them taking the grandkids out of school during the school year. I belive that we will have to purshase a second bedroom @ splitrock with our timeshare so we don’t run into this problem in the future. Please help If you can. thank you for your time.

We are Willowbrook timeshare owners and will be coming back for our 2nd year, from July 23-July 30. We had a great time last summer we decided instead of trading for another destination to come back to the Pocono’s. We stayed in the 1 bedroom last year & found it cramped with 2 adults and 2 growing boys, so we thought we would pay the extra money to upgrade to the 2 bedroom. When we booked they said we couldn’t do that unti 2 months before, but the chances were good, however when I contacted reservations today which is two months prior to try and upgrade to the larger unit, I was very disappointed to learn that there were none available. The lady was very nice and assured me she would put me on the waiting list, but really what are my chances of something opening up? I just don’t know if we could do a week with a one bedroom, what are my options?

I will be checking in to the Galleria on Fri 5/28 with my 2 sons (9 & 13 years old). I booked this getaway through Interval International (confirmation #015653781). I was concerned about some of the negative reviews I read about the rooms. I do realize you can not please all of the people all of the time. I was a resort manager for several years and know how petty people can be. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what type of room this is? It looks like my boys will really enjoy themselves with all of the activities you have to offer. I just do not want to be unhappy with the room.
