• Ghost Walks in Old Mauch Chunk Enjoy intriguing tales of lore of reported ghoulish encounters and stories of historic properties and people along Broadway. One mile round trip walks start at the Inn at Jim Thorpe, 24 Broadway. Led by a costumed Ghost Guide, the walks, all outside, last about a little over an hour. 8pm, Fridays, September 28 through November 9, November 30, December 7; and Saturdays, December 1 and 8. 7pm and 8:30pm tours on Saturdays, September 29 through November 10 (7:15pm and 8:45pm, October 27 only). Additional walks at 7:30pm and 9pm, October 13 only. $10 for adults and children ages 7-12, $5. Look for the Rotary Ghost Host in the lobby for tickets. While not scary, the walk is not recommended for children under 7. First come, first served without reservations, which are strongly suggested. • Asa Packer Mansion Tours This National Historic Landmark was the home of philanthropist and railroad magnate Asa Packer, built in 1861-3 at a cost of $14,000. This magnificent home was built over a cast iron frame and consists of 3 stories topped by a red-ribbed tin roof and a central cupola. It contains 18 rooms full of original 19th-century furnishings, and is available for tours on weekends from April to December, and everyday from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Open every day in October. Weekend tours last about 40-45 minutes. Tour times are every 15-20 minutes. Group tours require 15 or more guests. Weekend group tours during the Fall Foliage Festival must schedule prior to 11:00 AM.
• NO 9 Coal Mine & Tour We invite you to experience our unique Anthracite Mine Tour and Museum. Ride by rail into the mine; enjoy a walking tour which allows you to experience the views, paths, and adventures of a deep coal miner!
